getting freaky with the weather

I lived in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia for eight years of my life (Chiliwack from 1984-1989, and Vancouver from 1993-1996) and in all that time I never saw anything like this:

Vancouver city road crews, aided by about 2,000 tonnes of salt-sand mix, gained the upper hand over the storm which dumped 20 to 50 centimetres of snow on southern B.C. between late Saturday and this afternoon.

[…]No more snow is expected to fall until Thursday, but low temperatures will keep it on the ground for at least the next two days.

Meanwhile, out here on the East Coast, we have yet to enjoy a flurry, despite the fact that we usually have several centimetres of snow on the ground by this time of year. Global warming is a bitch, people!
