stupidity at it’s finest

I was absolutely stunned today when I read that the province of Nova Scotia effectively supports the banning of books, in particular To Kill a Mockingbird. A high school field trip to see a theatre production of the book was cancelled by the school board because “the book would not pass a provincial Education Department bias evaluation”. But it had nothing to do with censorship or banning books.

That’s right — they won’t allow the book to be taught in classrooms because they do not like it, but that’s not censorship. I would really like to know what they think that is then, because that screams censorship to me. And I’m very disappointed to see this coming out of a government in a country that is none for it’s more liberal tendencies in matters such as this.
