it’s hockey night in canada!

The 2005/06 season starts tonight! All thirty teams in the league will find themselves on the ice tonight for the first time in over a year. (Pre-season doesn’t count.) It’s nice to see the guys back in action.

For those of you who are going to be tuning in tonight, it might be a good idea to check out the new rules first, just so you know what to look for. With the elimination of the red line, less room behind the net, and the introduction of shoot-outs to decide tie-games, it promises to be a very different game from the one that we left in June 2004. I’ll leave it to you to decide if it will be a better game or not. Personally, I’m excited to see the changes take effect. Anything to speed up play and get things moving again.
