changing of the guard

Michaelle Jean will become Canada’s 27th Governor-General in a ceremony today on Parliment Hill. The appointment of Jean to the vice-regal post has definitely raised more than a few eyebrows, but I’ve decided to wait until she settles in before I pass judgement on her ability to represent the Queen.

If you’re interested in learning more about the most important woman in the Canadian government (it may be a ceremonial position, but it’s important none the less), Wikipedia has an excellent biography on Jean.
