good ridance, goodenow

If you think that the NHL lockout would have never happened if someone other than Bob Goodenow had been in charge of the players’ union, raise your hand.

I know y’all can’t see me, but my hand is raised.

And so, it was with glee and satisfaction sadness and regret that I read of Bob’s resignation as head of the NHLPA. There’s no question that his reign brought the players a lot of what they wanted, mainly money. But at whose expense? Ticket prices have had to rise dramatically in order to cover the multi-million dollar payrolls. And we lost an entire season of play for what seems like no reason. Because the deal that the players just accepted is almost identical to what they were offered eleven months ago. It seems best at this point that Goodenow hand the reigns over to the person who actually help to ratify the agreement that he was so strongly against, Ted Saskin.

On a related but side note, the 2005/2006 NHL Schedule has been released. Happy, happy, joy, joy.

I would also like to reiterate my belief that Trevor Linden is seriously hot.
