missing the forest for the trees

An Israeli physician has determined that Jesus died of a blood clot. Apparently, the theory before was that he died of blood loss and asphyxiation, but Dr. Benjamin Brenner thinks it is more likely that a pulmonary embolism is to blame.

Maybe I’m just spit-balling here, but I always thought that Jesus died because he was tortured and then nailed to a cross. I don’t think it really matters what the actual cause of death is — it’s pretty much a given that once they drove the nails into his hands, he was a goner. Is it really worth splitting hairs over?
